4 Ways to Lighten your Hair Naturally

Lemon Juice: I remember my mom spraying lemon juice on my hair before we would head to the beach when I was a kid. This natural beauty remedy has been around for forever, which is a testament to the fact that it actually works! According to Livestrong, when the citric acid in lemon juice heats up in the sun, it opens hair cuticles and lifts out the pigment. Just squeeze some lemon juice into a spray bottle, dilute with water (3 times the amount of lemon juice), and then spritz into your hair before you head outside. (P.S. If you’ve ever used lemon juice to keep a cut apple from browning, you’ve already witnessed its amazing bleaching properties!) CLICK TO READ MORE .

5 TIPS FOR Oily Skin

Image
Many women believe that because they have oily skin they must abstain from oil-based products. However, you might be surprised to learn that more oil might just be what your skin needs… 1. Cleanse your face with a botanical oil-based face wash. It may sound counterintuitive but when you have oily skin, it’s important to use a botanical oil-based face wash. Many of us have been trained to shop for “oil-free” products, but more recently dermatologists have learned that it’s not necessarily the best rule of thumb to apply to every aspect of your face wash routine. So why use a botanical oil-based face wash? Cleansing botanical oils adhere to the sebum deep inside your pores and when the skin is rinsed with water both the sebum and botanical oil both get washed away! CLICK TO READ MORE .

5 Mistakes You've Been Making With Mascara

Follow these tips to make sure your lashes always look their best. 1. You pump the wand too much: Are you spending more time separating your lashes than actually putting on mascara? Here's a quick fix: "Don't pump the wand in and out of the bottle," says Marlena. "This pushes air into the tube, which will make the mascara dry out faster, causing clumping and flaking. Instead, gently twist the wand back and forth or in circular motions to pick up the desired amount of product." When you remove the wand from the bottle, make sure to scrape off any excess mascara. If all else fails, make sure you have a lash separator on hand (you can use an old wand for this just wash it first). CLICK TO READ MORE .

How to Clean Makeup Brushes with Olive Oil, Vinegar & Shampoo

Image
Cleaning with Olive Oil One very effective way to get your makeup brushes clean involves using olive oil. The first thing you need to do with this method is pour a small amount of olive oil on a paper towel – or whatever you have – and, while using circular motions, rub your bristles in the oil to help break down the product caught inside of your brush. After you coat the bristles in oil, rinse your hand, and then apply a small dot of shampoo on your palm before continuing to work the soap into the bristles. Turn your faucet on afterward, and use the water to rinse the soap and oil out of your brush; keep the water from the ferrule by not getting the handle wet. There are also makeup brush cleansers available for purchase, or you can make your own. You can even skip the olive oil, and just use the shampoo if you're worried about the oil being left on your bristles. CLICK TO READ MORE .

How To Get Rid of Razor Bumps in The Bikini Area

I hate shaving. Like, really hate it. I hate that I have to spend my time shaving my legs, pits and vagina while I could be doing other things that probably wouldn’t make me bleed. I hate that my new apartment has a tiny shower stall and no bathtub, making the shaving process that much more uncomfortable. I hate that my skin is sensitive, and one bad swipe could cause razor burn for days. CLICK TO READ MORE .

Makeup Removing Towelettes I HATE washing my face. I don’t know why, but it has never been a big priority for me, but I can definitely see a difference in my clarity of my skin (especially blackheads) when I use good washing habits. Lately I have rediscovered makeup cleansing towelettes. Rather than falling asleep with a face full of makeup that I am just to lazy to wash off, I do a few quick swipes and it’s good enough for me. If you have acne prone skin, this may not be a great solution for you, as it’s not a very deep thorough cleaning. CLICK TO READ MORE .

How To Get The Perfect Cat Eyeliner

Image
Scotch Tape Trick: Get yourself a piece of clear tape that’s about two inches long and stick it to the back of your hand or your shirt a few times to remove most of the glue (you’ll be putting this next to your eye as a guide and you don’t need to pull or irritate the skin with the tape). Once the tape is just a little bit sticky, place it against your bottom lash line, angling up towards your temple to create a guideline for the cat eye. You can adjust the angle for how severe of a flick you want. CLICK TO READ MORE .

How to curl hair with a straightener

Image
Step 1: Start with clean, blow dried hair. If your hair is frizzy, run the straightener through large chunks just to smooth it a bit before curling. Step 1: Take 1 inch sections and clamp the straightener on the hair and turn it to the right as you run it down the length of the hair. If your hair is long you may need to hold onto the ends of the hair to prevent them from slipping out. The more you turn the straightener, the tighter the curl will be. If your hair does slip out half way through the curl, pick up where the curl left off but you do not need to recurl the entire strand again, that will just cause further and unnecessary damage. Step 1: Do that to your entire head and then take large sections and lightly run the straightener over large chunks of just the ends to give it a beachy look. Step 1: Finish with hairspray and you are done! CLICK TO READ MORE .

How to Remove Deep Blackheads

Image
Blackheads are oil, dirt and sebum that get trapped in pores and then harden. Blackheads most often occur on the nose, chin and forehead. Regular face-washing and exfoliating can help prevent blackheads. Dermatologists can perform chemical peels to help treat blackheads and other acne problems, but most insurances don't cover the procedure. Try a simple home remedy to get rid of unsightly blackheads. Makeup Mistakes Making You Look Tired

Not using a primer on your eyes: This one’s especially true if you’re using a dark eyeliner underneath your eyes, but make sure that you’re using a primer to prevent any dark color from smudging and drooping underneath your eyes, giving you a raccoon look. Also, using a waterproof eyeliner is ideal if you’re lining the bottom lash line. CLICK TO READ MORE .

Make a Curly Hair With Volume

Image
Steps : 1 : Section hair into a vertical section in front of the ear. 2 : Spray section with hair spray. Holding the curling iron clamp with your index finger (we prefer a 1.25-inch Hot Tools curling iron), clamp the section mid-shaft. 3 : Reach your opposite hand over to grab the rubber top of your iron, and immediately curl upward. 4 : Slightly loosen clamp grip on hair, and inch the curling iron downward. Then burl upward again. Repeat down the length of your hair section. 5 : Loosen clamp grip and release. Spray. 6 : Repeat steps 1 to 5 going around the head. 7 : Run fingers through your hair to break up the curls. 8 : Section hair into small sections around the crown. 9 : Wrap hair around the barrel of the curling iron (with clamp down). Repeat around the entire crown. Spray hair all over. CLICK TO READ MORE .

How to make Double Side Braid For Hair

Image
How to make Double Side Braid For Hair Steps : Begin with your hair down. Take a section of your hair from the thicker side of your part. Then braid it all the way down. It will lie flat on your head best if you angle it back as you're braiding it. Next, using a technique Elsie and Sarah taught me here, slightly tug all along the braid, making it appear thicker. Once the braid is complete, pin it on the back/far side of your head underneath the top layer of your hair, covering the bobby pins. Next, braid the rest of your hair into a side braid. Continue with the same process as the first braid, slightly tugging along the whole thing. If it CLICK TO READ MORE .

How to Dutch Braid

Image
The Dutch braid is one of my favorites. It is very similar to a French braid but backward so it's a little tricky to get the motion down, but once you have it down, you might think it's even easier than a French braid. First, I want to show you the difference in the way a French and a Dutch braid look. The way to begin a Dutch braid is to take the section of hair you want to braid and divide it into three equal sections. You ca start it anywhere in the head. Do achieve the look above you would start in the middle of the head along the hairline of the face. CLICK TO READ MORE .

Give your skin an even, temporary bronzed look with a hint of shimmer with a lightweight body oil

Image
Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil : This is one of my favorite ways to give myself a glow of tan without any unscreened sun exposure. A couple of basal cell skin cancers have left me very careful to screen myself well from the sun, but I miss the glow of a tan. This product supplies that glow, and it lasts several days or until my next shower, when I re-apply it. It blends in and looks natural if you rub it in on knees and ankles and the tops of feet. I love using it on my shoulders and arms, and if I can get my husband to help, on my back. Do know that it has a strong floral smell that dissipates over the first hour or two. You'll either love the scent or hate it. I love it. It doesn't trigger my migraines like some scents, but I can't speak for others. This is a regular part of my post-shower routine, a must do in shorts weather, but now I'm hooked and use it year round. CLICK TO READ MORE .
